The Utilities Regulatory Commission (URC) is responsible for regulating the activities of the regulated sectors namely electricity, water and sewerage for adequate, reliable, cost effective and affordable services while protecting and conserving the environment.
The mandate of the Commission is to:

Maintain efficient structure for the regulated sectors to ensure their economic feasibility.

Encourage investments and infrastructure development in the regulated sectors.

Improve the standards of service and quality of services supplied by service providers.
›
Promote fair competition and efficiency among service providers.
›
Protect consumer interests and ensure availability of high-quality, affordable services.
›
Facilitate sustainable sector growth through sound regulations.
›
Comply with policies and strategies adopted by the Government in relation to any regulated sector.
›
Promote the use of renewable energy, water and energy efficiency.
